‘Father’ as per the Oxford dictionary means a male parent, however, for me Father is synonymous to ‘protection’. At the back of my mind, I know my Dad is the one pillar I can always fall back on. He is the one who has trained me to be honest, hardworking and kind. While we have our difference of opinions on many things, we respect each other’s choices. He has taught me to experiment with new things and take calculated risks. As a young girl I always used to think Dad is Mr. Know it All; however, it’s only when I saw my Husband become a Father that I realized for every man, it is not an easy journey from being a single independent man to getting into a wedlock and then embracing the responsibility of fatherhood.
‘My Father, my Hero’ 4 words with an impact of a lifetime, both for the child and the Father. While sailing the unknown seas, it is a deemed responsibility of any Father to provide the financial support to the family and take direct responsibility for the future of the family.
However, ‘you don’t need super power to be a superhero’ – Batman. On this Fathers’ day, I would like to share 3 simple tips that will help every Man Feel like a SuperHero:
1) Protect: As soon as you start drawing salary get yourself a Life insurance cover. A term plan is the cheapest and purest form of life insurance. Next, protect yours and your family’s health by taking a health insurance cover. You could look at taking small individual covers and then top it up with a family floater and or super top-up options. ‘Heroes are made by the paths they choose not the powers they are graced with’ Iron man
2) Invest: Actions do speak louder than words and one of the most important things is for you to act on your promises. In order to provide for your family’s dreams, you have to start saving and then convert the savings to investments. The first step here is to earmark savings for different goals in the future and then work towards automating the same through monthly SIPs i.e. Systematic investment plans. ‘It’s not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.’ – Batman
3) Upgrade: as time goes by, you will have new requirements to add, more goals to achieve. Moving forward, review your insurance requirements and upgrade your investments annually. With changing circumstances, detailed planning of personal finance should be aimed at. “Dreams save us. Dreams lift us up and transform us.” – Superman
