The third edition of Wealth Forum TV’s Wise Advice Case Competition Awards came to a conclusion at the 9th Annual Wealth Forum Platinum Circle Advisors Conference held in Mumbai. And we couldn’t be more proud of our resident financial planners, all of whom managed to grab a spot within the top 25, including 3 spots within the top 10. The icing on the cake, however, was IMMPL’s Financial Planner, Khushboo Agarwal’s solution, which ranked third overall.
Considered by many as one of the most prestigious case competition awards in the country, this edition saw numerous entries from some of the best financial advisors and wealth management firms all over India. These entries were then scrutinized and the best 45 were selected for the jury round.
Before you read any further, here’s a little bit of trivia for you; International Money Matters’ CEO, Lovaii Navlakhi, was a part of the jury in the first edition of the Wise Advice Case Competition Awards held in 2016. As a result, we chose not to participate in the competition that year. However, we waited patiently for the 2017 edition where we also earned a top 3 finish.
This Year’s Case
The couple Alka & Shobhit being in their early 40’s live in Mumbai with their two children. Both are well settled in their careers. The dilemma being Alka (a fiction writer) wanting to shift to a bigger property (property value being 10 Crore as against a current net worth of 7 crores). She hopes her erratic income would become stable with some extra effort while Shobhit (risk manager) who recently became debt free from the loan on the current property is uncomfortable taking such a huge loan at this stage of his career. According to him, the uncertainties in his profession are quite high; his view is that this is the time for them to be saving up for their children, their education and their marriage, and for their own retirement. Alka dismisses Shobhit’s concerns about professional uncertainties – she says his risk management consultancy job has made him only focus on the downside. Shobhit believes that hoping for a volatile income stream to suddenly become steady and strong borders on wishful thinking, however strong the intent may be.
The Competition
This year’s Wise Advice Case Competition Awards jury consisted of Bharat Pathak, Promoter and Director of Wealth Managers, Mukesh Dhedia, Director of Ghalla Bhansali Securities, and Col. (Retd.) Sanjeev Govila, CEO of Hum Fauji Initiatives. These three industry stalwarts individually evaluated each of the 45 entries, complete with tables and annexures, and scored them on a 100-point scale. Despite the cut-throat competition, every entry from IMMPL not only made it to the jury round but also made their way into the top 25 without breaking a sweat.

I want to thank Wealth Forum for this recognition and thank IMMPL for their immense support and encouragement. Working with IMMPL, I look forward to helping more people by creating financial plans which provide a roadmap for them to make informed decisions in their financial life.”
At IMMPL, our customized financial plans are designed with a personal touch. That being said, it didn’t come as a surprise that we were commended for the manner in which we approached the case, the detail with which we addressed the case, and the clarity with which the recommendation was presented.
